The Leadership Challenge
This content focuses on the research of Kouzes & Posner’s “The Leadership Challenge”. The five pillars of exemplary leadership: model the way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act, and encourage the heart.
Each Pillar can be a separate 1 hour session:
Model the Way: establishing and sharing values, authenticity, remaining consistent in times of uncertainty.
Inspire a Shared Vision: importance of transparency, building excitement and buy-in for the future.
Challenge the Process: professional growth happens when we seek challenges, always challenge the process before blaming the person.
Enable Others to Act: providing equity in resources, mentoring, and support.
Encourage the Heart: burning the free fuel of company culture by showing appreciation, recognition, and encouragement.
The Leadership Challenge assessment was used as instrumentation for my doctoral dissertation. Data was collected from Senior Student Affairs Officers in Arkansas.
